West Michigan is in for a rare treat this Summer Solstice as Six Crows Alliance presents HOUSE OF MASKS, a 2-act "back alley circus" style story told through dance, hand drumming, music and song, video and images. The spectacle includes belly dance, fire dancing and spinning, hand drumming, flute, sitar, guitar and song unplugged, all against a kaleidoscope of special effects and light show, as the players portray the masks we (society) don as we maneuver consumerism.
The entertainment value for the 2.5-hour program (including intermission) is outrageous at $10/person.

RAMA'S HAREM, a popular West Michigan dance troupe, highlights the show with their artful belly dancing spiced up with daring, mesmerizing, and slightly terrifying fire dancing and spinning, accompanied by music and
spectacular costuming and props that help tell their impassioned, articulate story. Their shimmy and shake will keep you awake as they bedazzle and beguile in masterful style.

DAMARU, master hand percussionist celebrating three decades of drumming, studio recording artistry, and band work in 2014, catches fire in his own right. In addition to punctuating parts of the story through his eager accompaniment, Damaru will be unleashing his own unique pulse and rousing rhythm and timbre. He also incorporates a light show and video to give the audience a multi-dimensional experience.

Opening for Rama's Harem and Damaru is the melodic unplugged COPPER WOMAN on guitar. The talented West Michigan singer and musician is a commanding presence in her gentle and folksy manner. Our featured performers will also be joined by two guest performers, Rob Monty with soothing sounds of the sitar and flute performing with Damaru, and Belly and Fire Dancer Laura Unaeze performing with Rama's Harem.
VENUE AND ACTIVITIES — The venue is Six Crows Alliance in Twin Lake, Michigan. The show begins at 9 pm — dusk — for maximum effect for the fire dancing. However, a whole evening of added value awaits those who are up for more:
  • Rustic camping is free to those traveling a distance for the event.
  • Come early — the gate opens at 4 pm — and enjoy the beautiful gardens and Little Silver Lake, visit with friends, join in some of the yard games, and visit the vendors' tables.
  • At 6-7 pm Kat Clark will lead a fun craft project from recycled materials.
  • At 6-8 pm we'll have a casual drum circle going fireside down by the lake, led by Rob Monty. Join in anytime or just pull up a chair and enjoy.
  • After the show, nighthawks are invited to join the entertainers for a late night campfire down by the lake. Copper Woman has promised to bring her guitar and lead a sing-along. Alternatively, we will be screening a related film at the stage area.
FOOD AND BEVERAGES — Hot meals will be available at nominal prices, so whether you want to come early and enjoy the extras, or plan to camp Saturday night, you needn't deal with food. The supper menu (4-9 pm) will include a grilled beef or veggie burger or hot dog with potato chips and choice of salad or coleslaw. Coffee and tea and soft drinks will be on tap. Sunday morning there will be continental style breakfast items available, and if any campers are still around by lunchtime, choice of homemade vegetable soup or chilli.

VENDORS — We welcome vendors (no food) at the affordable rate of $10 for a 12X12 slot. Setup begins at 2 pm Saturday, and teardown should be concluded by 2 pm Sunday, or before the show if you're not staying over. Purchase your slot here, or email events@sixcrows.org for details.

What a great way to welcome the summer!!! A captivating, affordable show with lots of extras for locals, and an inexpensive, easy, and fun weekend getaway with free rustic camping for those traveling from a distance! Pass the word and bring your friends!
